- Website usage data. Technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, referring site and approximate location, collected through cookies and analytics tools (see section 6).
- Marketing preferences. Whether you have asked to receive, or stop receiving, our updates.
We do not ask you to provide sensitive information (such as health or financial account details) through our website. Please do not include it in forms or messages.
4. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you (through our forms, email, phone and meetings), automatically through our website using cookies and similar technologies, and occasionally from publicly available sources or referrals, where this is reasonable and relevant to our dealings with you.
5. Why we collect and use it
- To respond to your enquiry, provide a quote and deliver our services.
- To assess and manage job applications.
- To operate, secure and improve our website and understand how it is used.
- To send you information about our services or insights, where you have asked for it or it is otherwise permitted. You can opt out at any time.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations and to protect our rights.
6. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. We use Google Analytics (including through the Google Site Kit plugin) and Jetpack Stats to measure website traffic and performance. Our website may also load embedded content, such as a Google Map on our contact page, and an email-marketing widget, which can set their own cookies or collect usage data. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of our website work.
7. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it to:
- service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting and security providers, email and form-handling services, analytics providers and email-marketing tools;
- our professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers;
- government or law-enforcement bodies where the law requires or permits it; and
- another business, if our business or part of it is sold or restructured, in which case the information would continue to be protected under this policy.
We require our service providers to handle personal information only for the purposes we engage them for and to protect it appropriately.
8. Disclosure outside Australia
Some of our service providers, including hosting, analytics and email providers, may store or process information in countries outside Australia. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the provider handles your information in a way that is consistent with the APPs.
9. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls, secure hosting and encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy or as the law requires, and then take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it. If we experience a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by law.
10. Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we no longer need it. You can also ask us to stop sending you marketing messages at any time by using the unsubscribe link in a message or by contacting us. Email info@virtual-consultants.com and we will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first. If we cannot give access or make a correction, we will explain why in writing. If you are located in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area you may have additional rights under local law, and you are welcome to contact us about them.
